Birželio 3 d., penktadienį, centrinė Čikagos miesto aikštė „Daley Plaza“ pražydo lietuviškosiomis geltona, žalia ir raudona. Apie tai, kad aikštėje šeimininkauja lietuviai, skelbė iš toli matomas ženklas su Trakų pilimi ir užrašu „Day of Lithuania“ („Lietuvos diena“), ant aukšto stiebo plazdėjo didžiulė trispalvė, į šventę ragino užsukti žaliais marškinėliais vilkintys ir lietuviška atributika pasipuošę Šiaurės Amerikos lietuvių studentų sąjungos
